We all live busy lives, don’t we? We are all a hundred different things to at least as many people and between everything we have to do, it’s hard to work in the things that we want to do. Some weeks, bite-size crafting is the best I can manage. A few rounds on the hat I am knitting, a line or two in one of my journals, or something like these…

Altered Trading Cards. Or, in my case, altered playing cards. You can find inexpensive decks of playing cards at the dollar store or one of the big box stores. Or raid the family stash of decrepit Uno decks that are missing enough cards to be unplayable.
It takes only a little bit of time and effort to have a lovely piece of ephemera for a Junk Journal, or for any other purpose you might decide (I’m not here to judge). The best thing about these little crafting amuses (literally, in french, to amuse the mouth) is that the defined shape and size make it simple, but the options are limitless. Depending on how much time you have (for me, between loads of laundry) you can decoupage them with paper and washi, as I have done with this one; you can stencil or stamp or just get really crazy with your paper punches.

I encourage you to try it out, when you have a few moments. Maybe, if it helps, grab the supplies you’ll need and put them where you can get to them easily. However it works for you. If nothing else, it’s better than doomscrolling on your phone, right?
